This is a free standing sculpture, allowing it to be displayed in many positions and locations. Can be purchased with or without a round glass table top as a coffee table.
Creating this piece as a sculpture takes an amazing amount of work. Designing it free standing on just three tentacles and balancing the round glass table top on only three tentacle points of contact took months of extra design and engineering. It required a very intricate mold of the sculpture. Making the mold myself, each tentacle was molded separately from the head and mantle of the octopus just to be welded back on after being cast in bronze. The glass table top sets safely and firmly on top of three tentacle. It has rubber bumper stops that even look like suction cups in which the glass rests upon.
“I have always been fascinated with Cephalopods.”
There are hundreds of cephalopod species around the world. This is my interpretation of the largest species known: Pacific Giant Octopus (Enteroctopus dofleini). Recordings show it reaches 600 lbs. At least 100 of the cephalopod species have three hearts. They are all amazing and as fluid as the oceans in which they live. They are intelligent with a highly developed brain and acute vision, and are masters of camouflage.

From the artist
“I have always been fascinated with nature and the variety of amazing wildlife that exists in it. It is my inspiration! In particular the unusual and unique species. I am also inspired by the beginning of the bronze age of man. I sculpt in a way that shows an emphasis on balance and harmony, movement and rhythm. Every living thing has beauty and I try to show this. I strive to make all of my bronze sculptures fluid, defy gravity, and bring attention to each amazing species that I sculpt. Making a heavy stationary object appear to be light, move, and be filled with life is a challenge for sure. This is what I do. I love the challenge. I hope through my sculpture to bring an awareness of the land and sea around us, to the animals that live here.
